Norwegian striker, Erling Haaland, netted a brace as Manchester City got back on track with a 3-0 derby triumph over neighbours, Manchester United, at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 14 September, 2025.
English midfielder, Phil Foden, headed Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens in front in the 18th minute, with Jeremy Doku’s assist, however, Ruben Amorim’s United were in the showdown until Haaland took it away from them in the second 45 minutes. Doku and then Bernardo Silva twice sent him clear and the Norwegian striker did the rest.
Haaland’s brace came in the 53rd and 68th minutes as the hosts humiliated sloppy Manchester United.
Gianluigi Donnarumma, who joined City from Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG), did have to pull off one beautiful save on his Premier League debut to keep out Caneroonian forward, Bryan Mbeumo, but Benjamin Sesko struggled for service and for all United’s effort they lacked the cutting edge that Haaland brings to this City side.
With this result, Manchester City have climbed up to 8th with six (6) points while Manchester United dropped to 14th with four (4) points.
