In celebration of Portugal’s easy triumph over Armenia on Saturday, Cristiano Ronaldo announced, he made a “new friend” following the match in Armenia.
The 2026 World Cup qualifier on Saturday 6 September, 2025 had Portugal whitewash Armenia by a whopping five (5) goals to zero (0) with the Saudi Professional League club, Al Nassr, forward, netting a brace.
Joao Felix, who recently departed Premier League club, Chelsea, and joined Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, converted Joao Cancelo’s assist to open the scoring for Portugal in the 10th minute.
Eleven (11) minutes later, Ronaldo utilized Pedro Neto’s assist to make it two for the Lusitanians right inside the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan, Armenia.
Cancelo added the third in the 32nd minute before the former Manchester United forward scored his second and fourth for Portugal just a minute into the second half.
Felix then sealed victory for Portugal in the 62nd minute.
In his post-victory comments, Ronaldo said: “I made a new friend yesterday Grateful for the love and support every single day and I hope everyone gets to follow their dreams!”

The game for Portugal marked the first since the passing of their forward Diogo Jota, who died alongside his brother Andre Silva in a car crash in Spain in July, and both sides observed a moment of silence before kickoff.
