Zelensky to meet Trump in Washington as US president says ‘no deal’ on Ukraine after summit with Putin

President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskky, will meet with President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, in Washington DC, on Monday, after the US Leader’s summit with President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

According to CNN: “Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he will meet US President Donald Trump in Washington DC on Monday after the pair had a “long and substantive conversation” following Trump’s summit in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“In a reversal of his own position, Trump said a “peace deal” is the best way to end the war in Ukraine rather than a ceasefire, something Ukraine and its allies have been pushing for.”

Earlier, the US President said, he and his Russian counterpart achieved “great progress”, however, did not reach a deal on the fighting in Ukraine.

President Zelenskky posted on X: “Ukraine reaffirms its readiness to work with maximum effort to achieve peace.

“It is important that America’s strength has an impact on the development of the situation.

“On Monday, I will meet with President Trump in Washington, D.C., to discuss all of the details regarding ending the killing and the war. I am grateful for the invitation.

“It is important that Europeans are involved at every stage to ensure reliable security guarantees together with America.”
