Peter Obi, 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has congratulated D’Tigress for reaching the 2025 FIB Afrobasket final.
Nigeria emerged victorious in the semi final clash against Senegal on Saturday 2 August, 2025, coming from behind to win 75-68, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The former Governor of Anambra State described the “performance” of Nigeria’s Women’s Basketball Team as “incredible”, saying, they have “made Nigeria proud yet again”.
Nigeria will face Mali in the final of the tournament on Sunday 3 August, 2025 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast at 19:00 (WAT).
Obi wrote on X: “Congratulations, D’Tigress.
“You gave an incredible semi-final performance. I watched with all smiles and so much pride as you came from behind in the third quarter to show true dominance and secure your place in the finals.
“You have made Nigeria proud yet again, 10 years unbeaten is nothing but dominance.
“As you prepare for the finals, we are all with you, cheering you to make history once again.
“Go finish what you started, Nigeria stands with you. Bring the trophy home.”
