‘The struggle for Nigeria has started’ – Obi ahead of 2025 bye-elections

2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to come out and exercise their rights in the 2025 bye-elections.

The 2025 bye-elections is scheduled to take place on Saturday 16 August, 2025.

The exercise will hold in the 16 States of the Federation with two (2) Senatorial, five (5) Federal House of Reps, and nine (9) State Assembly seats at hand for voting.

Obi said, “the struggle for Nigeria has started.”

The former Governor of Anambra State, who is a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Coalition, has urged Nigerians, Obidients and COPDEM families to head out and vote for ADC in their respective States.

Labour Party (LP) candidates were omitted from the list of candidates for the bye-elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The ‘Papa, Mama and Pikin’ Party warned, if its candidates are not included for the bye-elections, it will fight back legally to ensure the polls are “nullified”.

Obi alongside other members of the Coalition adopted the ADC for the 2027 Nigeria general election; and promised to make the welfare of Nigerian their top priority.

Taking to X, Obi wrote: “2025 Bye-Elections

“On the 16th of August 2025. Nigerians will go to the polling units again for the Bye-Elections.

“This is expected to take place in the 16 States of the Federation with 2 Senatorial, 5 Federal House of Representatives and 9 State Assembly seats available for voting.

“Kindly note that because the Labour Party has no recognised candidates by INEC due to the internal crisis, I humbly urge every member of Obidient and COPDEM families to go out and vote for the coalition political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), in their respective states.

“The struggle for Nigeria has started. Thank you.”
