English forward, Marcus Rashford, recorded his competitive debut as Barcelona kicked off their La Liga title defence with a 3-0 victory against nine-man Mallorca.
Following a stunning right-wing cross from Spanish winger, Lamine Yamal, Brazilian forward, Raphinha, opened scoring for Hansi Flick’s Catalans early, in the 7th minute.
Ferran Torres and Yamal netted the second and third goals respectively for Barcelona as the Spanish Kings carted home all three (3) points.
Manu Morlanes was sent off in the 33rd minute after being shown the yellow card twice, and Vedat Muriqi was shown a straight red in the 39th; reducing Mallorca to nine players.
It took Flick’s men sixty (60) minutes encompassing addiional time to net past the nine men, Yamal hammering in their third goal with almost the last kick.
Englishman, Rashford, was introduced in the 69th minute for his Barcelona debut, emerging the first English player to field for the first team in a competitive game since Gary Lineker in 1989.
Rashford, 29, is on a season-long loan at Barcelona from Premier League side, Manchester United.
