Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has departed Japan for Brazil on Thursday night.
The President is expected to have a stopover in the American city of Los Angeles before continuing his journey to the Brazilian Capital of Brasilia.
The President’s State visit to Brazil will begin on Sunday 24 August, 2025 after the conclusion of his participation in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), which held in Yokohama.
There’s been reactions following photos and videos which emerged online showing the empty Nigerian booth at the Summit in Japan.
The emptiness at the Nigerian booth was described as a “diplomatic embarrassment” by former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi; the African Democratic Congress (ADC) mocked Nigeria’s participation at the Summit, saying, the “incompetence” of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) followed President Tinubu to Japan.
