On Thursday 14 August, 2025, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, commissioned five ultramodern transport terminals in the State.
Also commissioned along with the terminals include, over 80 new bus shelters, CNG Mass Transit Scheme and Modern Transport Management System.
The Governor said, he promised when he assumed office that, he will deliver a world-class transport system that “moves people, connects businesses and communities”, as well as, properly place Enugu State as a “model of modern governance, sustainable growth”.
Mbah said, the project will “create jobs and stimulate SMEs” as he expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his “support” in ensuring the “progress” of Enugu State.
Governor Mbah made known via X: “We took another decisive step in transforming Enugu’s transportation landscape.
“I had the privilege of commissioning five ultramodern transport terminals – Holy Ghost Terminal 1 & 2, Nsukka, Abakpa Nike, and Gariki – alongside the CNG Mass Transit Scheme, our Modern Transport Management System, and over 80 new bus shelters.
“Until late 2023, the Holy Ghost area was practically a synonym for chaotic traffic and general disorderliness. But from day one, we promised to build a world-class transport system that moves people, connects businesses and communities, and rightfully positions Enugu State as a model of modern governance, sustainable growth, and human dignity.
“This is more than a ribbon-cutting exercise – it is a multimodal highway to the future that integrates road, rail, air, and waterways into one seamless, safe, and efficient ecosystem.
“Already, this project is creating jobs, stimulating SMEs, and positioning Enugu to compete with Africa’s best – with over 20,000 jobs across BRT, hybrid taxis, airport operations, ride-hailing, and support services.
“With our e-ticketing system, commuters can travel with ease, transparency, and dignity – knowing our comprehensive insurance coverage protects both the assets and the people who use them.
“I thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (@officialABAT) for his sincere support towards Enugu’s progress, including the concessioning of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, which will reposition our state as an aviation and economic hub.
“To Ndi Enugu, I am deeply grateful for the massive turnout at the terminals today. Your outpouring of support, cheers, and encouragement inspire me to keep working tirelessly to deliver the future we all envision.
“This is how we connect vision to action, and action to the daily lives of our over 7 million residents. Enugu is moving forward – and we’re moving together.”
