In his address, Governor Ademola Adeleke urged the people of Osun State, to “reject division and embrace unity”.
As the Governor marks the 34th anniversary of Osun State today, Wednesday 27 August, 2025, he said, the Southwestern State has “faced both triumphs and challenges”, adding, ‘State of the Living Spring’ has “every reason to be proud of our achievements”.

“Fellow Citizens of Osun,
It is with immense joy, gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility that I address you today to commemorate the 34th Anniversary of the creation of our beloved Osun State. On this day in 1991, our founding fathers and mothers, through courage, vision, and unwavering determination, achieved an age long dream and aspiration of having a state we can call our own.
Today, we remember and honour those who championed the creation of Osun State. Their labor was not in vain, they fought tirelessly, not for themselves, but for the future generation yet unborn. Their sacrifices remain the foundation upon which we stand today.
Since our creation, we have faced both triumphs and challenges. Our state has grown in leaps and bounds. We have every reason to be proud of our achievements. In the past 34 years, our state has made significant strides. We have nurtured talents that have excelled in education, culture, sports, innovation, and enterprise. We have invested in infrastructure, expanded opportunities for our youths, and strengthened our systems of governance.
Today, it is a matter of pride that my government is committed to deepening our democratic values and promoting the welfare of our people. We are building a strong, virile, and resilient democratic governance for delivering sustainable value to our citizens based on good governance. I reaffirm my unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and people-centered governance.
The Osun of our dreams — prosperous, peaceful, inclusive, and self-reliant is possible, but it requires the efforts and collective responsibilities of the government, private sector, traditional rulers, religious leaders, artisans, farmers, entrepreneurs, civil servants and every single citizen and resident of the state.
“Let us reject division, embrace unity, uphold Omoluabi values, and always place Osun first. Together, we can overcome our challenges and make Osun a model of excellence and progress.
“I thank every citizen for your support and contributions. Let us continue this journey hand in hand towards a brighter and a more prosperous future.
