Liverpool struggled hard to cart home all three (3) points in the Premier League 2025/26 match against 10-player Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Monday 25 August, 2025.
It was 16-year old debutant Rio Ngumoha who struck the winner, in the 10th minute of additional time, to earn his side a 3-2 triumph at Newcastle United after the 10-man Magpies had fought back from two goals down at home.
Ryan Gravenberch opened scoring for Arne Slot’s Reds in the 35th minute after converting Cody Gakpo’s assist, and Hugo Ekitike added the second with a clinical side-footed finish in the 46th minute, and it was Gakpo with the assist once again.
English winger, Anthony Gordon, bagged a straight red and reduced Eddie Howe’s Magpies to ten (10); but the hosts were still able to battle and level through Bruno Guimaraes’ header and William Osula in 57th and 88th minutes respectively.
After Howe’s side had levelled, It appeared like Newcastle United might even grab an unlikely triumph, however, Ngumoha found the back of the net in the 100th minute to make it two wins from two games for Liverpool.
