João Palhinha join Tottenham Hotspur on loan from Bayern Munich

Portugese defensive midfielder, João Palhinha, has moved to English side, Tottenham Hotspur, from German Bundesliga side, Bayern Munich, on loan.

The Portuguese international’s loan contract stays valid until summer 2026 and includes a purchase option for the Uefa Europa League 2024/25 winners, who field against the German record champions in a friendly at the Allianz Arena on 7 August.

According to the Club’s official website, Bayern Munich Board Member for Sport, Max Eberl, said: “João Palhinha unfortunately didn’t get the game time he hoped for at FC Bayern last season. We’ve found the best solution for all sides with Tottenham Hotspur. João can have a whole season at top European level there. We wish him all the best for the year ahead.”

Palhinha moved to Allianz Arena in summer 2024 from Premier League club Fulham.

He recorded 25 appearances in all competitions last season and clinched the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich. He’s currently under contract until 30 June 2028. Palhinha will link up with former FCB team-mate Mathys Tel at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
