The Office of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has invited Omoyele Sowore, 2023 Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) over ‘Forgery And Inciting Disturbance’.
This is coming after Sowore led the recent Police protests. The protests which held in Abuja forced the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, to meet with the protesting retired officers at the Force Headquarters.
The retired Police Officers lamented over poor retirement benefits as they requested for better entitlements.
According to the Letter of Invitation titled ‘Re: Forgery And Inciting Disturbance’, signed by DCP Akin Fakorede, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Head IGP Monitoring Unit, The Nigeria Police Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja on Friday 1 August, 2025, Sowore name “featured prominently” as the Police investigates the above mentioned case.
Sowore reacted: “…He’s invited me to his “IGP” Monitoring unit section for “ Forgery and INCTING Disturbance”.
“I will be there on Monday, and I’ll be inviting all our people in the revolutionary struggle to come with me.”
The Letter of Invitation reads: “This office is investigating the above mentioned case reported on 31st July 2025 in which your as feature prominently.
“2. In view of the foregoing and in the spirit of fair hearing, you are kindly requested to interview the undersigned through SP. Abdulhafiz Garba at the Monitoring Unit, First Floor, Force Headquarters, Abuja on Monday 4th August 2025 by 1000hrs to shed more light on the allegations.
“3. This invitation is compelled by law enforcement requirement as provided under section 53(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2025.
“4. While anticipating your cooperation in this regard, accept the highest regards of the Inspector-General of Police, please.”
