‘Growing up with albinism wasn’t easy’ – Governor Eno

Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, confessed, growing up as an albino was difficult for him as he was “bullied, body shamed and rejected”.

The Governor said, “growing up with albinism wasn’t easy”, adding, “I faced bullying, body shaming, and rejection”.

Eno said, he is thankful to God for who he has become today, and that, he recognizes anyone with the skin condition whenever he sees them.

Governor Eno wrote on X: “Growing up with albinism wasn’t easy; I faced bullying, body shaming, and rejection. But today, by God’s grace, I stand proudly. That’s why whenever I see anyone with this skin condition, I make it a point to honour and recognise them.”

Umo Eno, who emerged as Governor of Akwa Ibom State under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and explained, he made the move in the best interest of Akwa Ibomites, as well as, to properly align with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
