On Monday 18 August, 2025, Executive Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, presented and distributed the improved Tenera Oil Palm seedlings under the Alia Palm Project to members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council.
The Governor of the ‘Food Basket Of The Nation’ State also made known key interventions for the NUJ in the State, which include: *Settlement of NUJ’s ₦12 million national dues, Renovation of the NUJ Secretariat.”
Taking to X, Governor Alia announced: “At the official presentation and distribution of improved Tenera oil palm seedlings under the Alia Palm Project, I handed seedlings to members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council.
“This initiative is about laying the foundation for a sustainable economy that will provide jobs, strengthen industries, create wealth for families, and reposition Benue as not only the Food Basket of the Nation but also the Industrial Basket of Nigeria.
“I also announced key interventions to support our media family:
• Settlement of NUJ’s ₦12 million national dues
• Renovation of the NUJ Secretariat
• Provision of a utility bus for the Union
• Commitment to address weigh-in allowances
“Our journalists are key partners in development. As they document and project the progress of our state, I encourage them to also nurture these seedlings into lasting economic assets for Benue.
“Every palm tree planted is a promise of a brighter tomorrow for our people.
“Together, we are rewriting the Benue story, a story of growth, prosperity, and sustainable development.
