Executive Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting the 2025 bye-elections on Saturday 16 August, 2025 “credibly and peacefully”.
Abiodun also thanked the people of the Southwestern State for their “massive” turnout and exercising their rights.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious in the bye-elections conducted in Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North Federal Constituency.
The Governor credited the ‘Broom’ Party candidate, Princess Dr. Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji’s “resounding victory” to the “success and achievements” of the Tinubu administration.
Governor Abiodun posted on X: “With gratitude to the Almighty, we celebrate the resounding victory of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and our candidate, Princess Dr. Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji, in the just-concluded Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North Federal Constituency bye-election. This triumph is not just about winning at the polls; it is a referendum on the success of our administration, the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the resilience of our people who stood firm against intimidation and inducement.
“We commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a credible exercise, our security agencies for maintaining peace, and our people for their massive turnout and political maturity. This victory is also symbolic, coming at the same time our Gateway International Airport received approval for commercial operations, another milestone in the history of Ogun State.”
The Governor rejoiced with Representative-elect, Princess Adesola Elegbeji, on her victory, and charged her to execute her “sacred mandate” with “humility and diligence”.
Governor Abiodun further posted: “As we congratulate our Representative-elect, Princess Adesola Elegbeji, we charge her to carry this sacred mandate with humility and diligence. Together, we must sustain the vision of Renewed Hope, continue the march for inclusive development, and remain disciplined, united, and focused as we look ahead to even greater victories in 2027.
“This success belongs to all our leaders, supporters, youths, traditional rulers, artisans, religious groups, and every father and mother who stood with us. With God on our side, we will continue to build a state of progress, unity, and prosperity.”
