First Lady Oluremi Tinubu empowers 1,000 women and persons living with disabilities in Lagos

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu empowered “1,000” women and persons living with disabilities in Lagos on Saturday.

The gesture was made possible through the Renewed Hope Initiative; as tools were provided to the beneficiaries to enable them “build sustainable businesses and better lives.”

This happened after the First Lady commissioned the Lagos State Industrial Leather Hub in Matori, Mushin, Lagos on Saturday 23 August, 2025.

The First Lady’s commitment to empowering women is propelled by “her belief that women are central to the progress of any society”, Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who accompanied her, said.

The Lagos State government supported the empowerment programme with the donation of additional “500” items to make sure more women benefit.

Sanwo-Olu urged the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously to grow their businesses and help their families progress.

Governor Sanwo-Olu posted on X: “The First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative, empowered 1,000 women and persons living with disabilities by providing them with the tools they need to build sustainable businesses and better lives.

“Her Excellency’s commitment to uplifting women stems from her belief that women are central to the progress of any society. Here in Lagos, we share this conviction, which is why we supported the programme by contributing an additional 500 empowerment items to ensure that more women could benefit.

“To the beneficiaries, I urge you to use these gifts wisely, grow your businesses, and in doing so, grow the wealth of your families and of Lagos.”
