FAAN clarifies on incident involving Ibom Air passenger at MM2 Terminal

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has come out to clarify on the incident that involved an Ibom Air passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson.

The brawl between Airline, Ibom Air, and Ms. Emmanson, led to the passenger being “strikes naked” and taken to Kirikiri Prison.

Via a statement posted on X, FAAN said: “The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to provide further clarification regarding the incident that occurred on Sunday, August 10, 2025,

“2. involving a passenger of Ibom Air at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MM2) in Lagos. MM2 is a privately-owned terminal operated by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, and as such, the initial response to the incident was handled by Ibom Air’s security personnel

“3. and the Bi-Courtney Aviation Security Team. FAAN’s Aviation Security (AVSEC) team became involved only after the individual was transferred to the Crime Investigation and Intelligence Unit (Tango City) for official documentation

“4. and handover to the Nigeria Police for prosecution. For public awareness, it is important to note that the MM2 Terminal is classified as a Private Tenant Restricted Area. Within this terminal:

“5. – FAAN AVSEC officers are responsible for passenger and baggage screening at designated checkpoints.

– BiCourtney Aviation Security Team oversees general terminal security operations.

“FAAN remains committed to the ongoing training and retraining of our AVSEC officers.

“6. While we appreciate the numerous training proposals submitted by members of the public, we wish to emphasise that only institutions certified by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) are authorised to conduct certification-related trainings for our aviation personnel.

“7. FAAN reiterates its unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and professionalism across all airport facilities nationwide.”
