Her Excellency, Francia Márquez, Vice President of the Republic of Colombia, has landed in Abuja, Nigeria, on Saturday 30 August, 2025 on a three-day official visit.
The Colombian VP was accompanied by Mr. Rafael Yerney Pinillo Ocoró, her spouse, was received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja by Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Iman Sulaiman-Ibrahim, alongside other Ministers and senior officials of the Nigerian government.
Márquez’s official visit is to bolster “diplomatic and strategic” relations between Nigeria and Colombia, and, strengthen collaboration in areas such as, “trade, agriculture, education” among others.
The Official X account of the VP says: “The Vice President of the Republic of Colombia, Her Excellency @FranciaMarquezM, has arrived in Abuja on a 3-day official visit to Nigeria.
“Accompanied by her spouse, Mr. Rafael Yerney Pinillo Ocoró, the Colombian Vice President was received on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, @ChiefUcheNnaji; the Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. @ImmaculateIman; the Minister of State, FCT, @drmmariya; the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (@nemanigeria), Mrs. @TheZubaidaUmar; and other senior government officials
“Mrs. Márquez’s official visit to Nigeria is expected to deepen diplomatic and strategic relations between Nigeria and Colombia, as well as enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including governance, trade, agriculture, energy, education and security, among others.”
