APC prepare ahead of Saturday’s bye-elections

Newly sworn in National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, presided over the 178th regular meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) on Wednesday 13 August, 2025.

At the meeting, important issues were discussed including, preparation for the legislative bye-elections scheduled for this Saturday 16 August, 2025 across twelve (12) states.

While the ‘Broom’ Party are gearing up for the exercise, the Labour Party (LP) are still brawling with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the omission of the names of the ‘Papa, Mama and Pikin’ Party’s candidates.

Labour Party has sternly warned, if the country’s electoral body excludes its candidates, then, it “risks nullification of the polls.”

Yilwatda made known via X: “I presided over the 178th regular meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) convened on Wednesday, 13th August 2025. The session reflected our commitment to purposeful leadership and proactive engagement in matters of national interest.

“Among the key issues discussed were our preparations and strategic readiness for the legislative bye-elections scheduled for this Saturday across 12 states.

“The NWC reaffirmed its resolve to ensure a transparent, credible, and well-coordinated process that upholds the values and principles of our great party.”
