Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has bagged the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Honorary Degree of Doctor of Political Science (D.Sc Honoris Causa) on Saturday 26 July, 2025.
UNIPORT also named its Convocation Arena after the immediate former Governor of Rivers State.
Wike said, the Honourary Degree he received from the University is the “reason” why he hardly hesitates to “freely give” to the Institution whenever the opportunity comes, and he will never stop to do so.
Taking to X, Wike made known: “Yesterday, I was honoured with the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) Honorary Degree of Doctor of Political Science (D.Sc Honoris Causa).
“The University also named its Convocation Arena after me.
“For me, my wife and entire family, we hold this honour as pre-eminent and totally gratifying. We are grateful to the University Governing Council and the Management.
“UNIPORT availed me the rich and concrete intellectual foundation upon which my socio-economic and political ascendancy have been fittingly predicated. In UNIPORT, I was educated both in character and learning.
“This explains why I freely give to this institution whenever I have the opportunity and I will continue to do so.”
