Kashim Shettima, Vice President, paid a condolence visit on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to the family of Late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, in London.
Shettima travelled to London alongside Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, on the directive of President Tinubu, to accompany the body of the former Nigerian Leader back to Nigeria.
Shettima’s condolence visit to Buhari’s family in London was made known by Stanley Nkwocha, Spokesman/Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications (Office of the Vice President), on Monday 14 July, 2025.
The VP went on the condolence visit to Buhari’s family as he waits for the conclusion of procedures and documentation for the deportation of Buhari’s body to Nigeria.
According to Stanley Nkwocha: “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT, Vice President Kashim Shettima @officialSKSM, upon arrival in London, met with and condoled with the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari in London.
“The Vice President also visited the late President’s nephew, Malam Mamman Daura, who is recuperating in a London hospital.
“The condolence visits were conducted while the Vice President awaits the conclusion of procedures and documentation for the repatriation of former President Buhari’s body to Nigeria.
“Vice President Shettima is accompanied by Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila @femigbaja; Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Zulum @ProfZulum; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar @YusufTuggar; and Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia @hadejia.”
