‘True dominance in African football’ – Tinubu, Obi, Atiku congratulate Super Falcons on 10th WAFCON glory

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State; and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; have sent congratulations to the Super Falcons following their WAFCON 2024 triumph in Morocco on Saturday night.

Nigeria came from two (2) goals down to discomfit Morocco, host nation, 3-2, in the Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations (WAFCON) final at Stade Olympique in Rabat on Saturday 26 July, 2025.

After Nigeria’s win, President Tinubu said, he spoke with the Super Falcons and made them know how “proud” they’ve made Nigerians both home and abroad, adding, “they lifted our spirits with their resilience”.

Obi said, “this is more than a win”, describing the Super Falcons triumph as “true dominance in African football”.

Atiku said, the Super Falcons’ victory was “driven by the Nigerian spirit of never giving up.”
