Pope Leo XIV has called for the sanctioning of those who “use hunger as weapon of war”, saying, those “responsible should be held accountable”.
The Head of the Catholic Church said, the world is watching hopelessly the “blocking of aid” being used “increasingly as a tactic” by armed militias.
Ths Sovereign of the Vatican City State lamented, “political elites grow fat with impunity” while civilians suffer in “misery”.
Pope Leo XIV wrote: “We are witnessing with despair the iniquitous use of hunger as a weapon of war. Burning crops, stealing livestock, and blocking aid are tactics increasingly used by armed militias.
“As civilians languish in misery, political elites grow fat with impunity. It is time to sanction these abuses and hold accountable those who are responsible for it.”
