‘PDP remains the most credible platform for national progress’ – Saraki

13th President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, said, it is a “fact” that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) “remains the most credible platform for national progress”.

Sataki made the statement in his remarks, when he joined the Founding Fathers and stakeholders of the ‘Umbrella’ Party at the Consultative Conference convened by Professor Jerry Gana today, Wednesday 23 July, 2025.

He said, it was during the Party’s 16-year rule that Nigeria emerged Africa’s largest economy and became more united.

Saraki admitted, the PDP is “a ship in need of repairs”, however, said, the “ultimate goal must be to put Nigeria first”.

He made it clear, “I will never give up on this party.”

Taking to X, Saraki said: “It was an honour to join the Founding Fathers and stakeholders of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party @OfficialPDPNig, today at the Consultative Conference convened by Professor Jerry Gana.

“In my remarks, I emphasised that we must not lose sight of the fact that the PDP remains the most credible platform for national progress. Our 16 year record—during which Nigeria became Africa’s largest economy and grew into a more united nation—stands as proof of what we are capable of achieving together.

“Let’s not abandon a ship in need of repairs. If you must leave, let it be on ideology—not anger. The ultimate goal must be to put Nigeria first, and rise above the propaganda designed to divide us as a party. We have the capacity and the sagacity to resolve our internal issues.

“I am grateful to Professor Jerry Gana for his leadership in bringing the party’s Founding Fathers and stakeholders together for what was, in essence, a family meeting.

“The PDP was built on solid foundations. Its founders handed it over to us with trust. God forbid that we become the generation that lets it fall apart.

“I will never give up on this party. I urge all true patriots of the PDP to agree that for the greater good of Nigeria, leaving is not an option.”
