Spanish winger, Nico Williams, has extended his contract until 2035 with the aim of clinching more positive achievements at Athletic Club.
The Spain international has put pen to paper on a ten-year deal that will keep him at Estadio San Mamés in Bilbao until 30 June 2035.
The winger’s new deal has an increase in the release clause of more than 50% over the previous one.
After the signing, the Red and White player said: “When it comes to making decisions, for me, the most important thing is to listen to your heart. I am where I want to be, with my people, this is my home. Aupa Athletic!”
Nico Williams (Iruñea, 2002) became a part of Athletic Club as a youngster in the 2013/14 season, a year after his brother Iñaki arrived at Lezama.
Since then, he has scaled through all the training levels at Athletic until his debut as a Lion on 28 April 2021, at the age of eighteen (18).
In his five (5) seasons so far in the first team he has made a total of 167 official appearances and has clinched a Copa title, as well as qualifying for the Uefa Europa League (where the team reached the semi-finals) and the Uefa Champions League last season.
Nico Williams’ contribution to the Red and White in recent campaigns has been decisive, making a difference in the Lions attack, with gratitude to his pace and speed, netting 31 goals, recording a lot of chances and becoming a steady trouble for opposing defenders.
