Nigeria lift 10th WAFCON trophy after 3-2 comeback win over Morocco in final

The Super Falcons of Nigeria clinched a tenth title as they recorded a 3-2 comeback victory over host-nation, Morocco, in the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) at Stade Olympique in Rabat on Saturday 26 July, 2025.

Morocco had gone two goals in front through Chebbak G and Mssoudy S. in the 13th and 24th minutes respectively, before the Super Falcons found one through forward Esther Okoronkwo in the 64th minute.

Folashade Ijamusi levelled for Nigeria in the 71st minute, perfectly converting Okoronkwo’s assist, and Jennifer Echegini sealed victory very late, in the 88th minute.

The results means Nigeria are WAFCON Champions for a record ten (10) times – 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2024.

The Super Falcons remain unbeaten in WAFCON final, with a beautiful record of 10 finals, 10 trophies.
