Lauretta Onochie, who served as Special Adviser on Social Media to Late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, said, “we cannot fund our foreign missions & most of the agencies at home”.
She made the statement in a conversation with Rufai Oseni, Arise TV host.
Oseni tweeted a quote – presently based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the President has withdrawn all Nigeria’s ambassadors worldwide when he asked around to know who the Nigerian Ambassador to the UAE is.
Rufai Oseni posted a quote on X: ““I’m based in the UAE at present and just yesterday asked around to find out who the Nigerian ambassador to the UAE is to get an introduction.
I was informed that our president withdrew all our ambassadors worldwide including the ambassadors to the UN and that embassies that are still still operating are being run by junior attaché’s who themselves are owed salaries. Please tell me that this is not true.
“That Nigeria is not lacking diplomatic representation at this most tumultuous time for global cooperation””
Lauretta Onochie quoted Rufai Oseni’s tweet and commented: “This is where Nigeria has been stuck for close to 2 years
“We are selling more crude now. We are not paying subsidies. Yet we cannot fund our foreign missions & most of the agencies at home
“Establishing diplomatic relationship with a nation smaller than Ajegunle, is our priority”
