Bashir Ahmad, Special Adviser to former President, Muhammadu Buhari, believes, “Mbappe’s arrival has really destroyed the balance at Real Madrid.”
His statement is coming after Real Madrid were ruthlessly booted out of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 by French side, Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG).
PSG, Kylian Mbappe’s former Club, whitewashed Real Madrid 4-0 to reach the final of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on Wednesday 9 July, 2025 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Ahmad also believes “You don’t need a squad full of superstars”, saying, what is required for a team to perform excellently well is unity, as well as, less ego.
In his reaction to Real Madrid’s loss to PSG, Bashir Ahmad said: “Honestly, Mbappe’s arrival has really destroyed the balance at Real Madrid. It was the same problem PSG struggled with for many years. Before he joined, Madrid had a cohesive, well-structured team that all clubs feared. You don’t need a squad full of superstars; what you need is a united, tactical team with minimal ego. Sadly, it is looking like we are in for another rough ride in the upcoming 2025/26 season.”
PSG will face Chelsea in the final at MetLife Stadium.
