With the aim to increase public engagement and encourage active participation in the forthcoming Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Osun State, carried out a sensitization tour to two main religious centres in Osogbo – Winners Chapel and NASFAT Praying Ground.
The tour by INEC is focused on ensuring that all segments of society are “adequately informed”.
According to INEC: “In a bid to deepen public engagement and promote active participation in the forthcoming Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, today led the Management Team of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on a sensitization tour to two major religious centres in Osogbo; Winners Chapel, Ring Road, and the NASFAT Praying Ground.
“Addressing large congregations at both venues, Dr. Agboke emphasized the Commission’s commitment to transparent, inclusive, and credible electoral processes, stressing the vital role of civic participation in sustaining Nigeria’s democracy.
“At Winners Chapel, the REC explained the dual phases of the upcoming CVR exercise, beginning with Pre-Online Registration on August 18, 2025, followed by the commencement of In-Person Registration on August 25 at all INEC Local Government offices in the state. He called on eligible citizens, particularly first-time voters and those who have relocated, to seize the opportunity to update or register their details in preparation for future elections.
“The church leadership warmly received the INEC delegation, lauding the Commission’s grassroots engagement strategy and pledging support in disseminating vital voter information among their members. Dr. Agboke presented the INEC Guidelines and Electoral Regulations to the State Pastor, reinforcing the institution’s role as a stakeholder in the democratic process.
“Similarly, at the NASFAT Praying Ground, the REC urging worshippers to take ownership of the registration process by participating in the exercise. He noted that such outreach efforts are essential in bridging the gap between INEC and the public, especially in light of voter apathy and misinformation.
““We must move beyond complaints and take concrete steps to influence leadership through the ballot,” Dr. Agboke stated, as he encouraged religious and community leaders to serve as catalysts for civic mobilization.
“The sensitization visits are part of a broader strategy by INEC to ensure that all segments of society are adequately informed.”
