Newly appointed Real Madrid head coach, Xabi Alonso, said, he now knows where to improve on in his team after the loss to PSG in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 semi final.
On Wednesday 9 July, 2025, Real Madrid were humiliated by European Kings, Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG), a whopping four (4) goals to zero (0) at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
It was a huge statement by Luis Enrique’s PSG as they majestically walked into the final of the tournament to slug it out for the trophy with Premier League side, Chelsea.
Chelsea saw off Brazilian side, Fluminense, 2-0 on Tuesday 8 July, 2025 to reach the final.
Los Blancos Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, who conceded four (4) times on Wednesday night, described the encounter as “tough”, however, said, his side learnt a lot from it.
Post-PSG comments from Real Madrid Camp
Xabi Alonso (Manager): “The Club World Cup has taught me a lot about what we are and what we need to improve.”
Thibaut Courtois (Goalkeeper): “It’s a tough defeat, but a defeat to learn from.”
The clash marked English midfielder, Jude Bellingham’s 100th game for Real Madrid.
Dani Carvajal returned to action for the Los Blancos from injury, also Eder Militao fielded for Real Madrid against PSG after being out of action for eight (8) months due to injury.
HC: Hopefully, Alonso will get it right with Real Madrid just the way he did with Bayer Leverkusen. This defeat was just too much!!
