Governor Abiodun inaugurates PFMC says ‘we prioritize welfare of our workers and retirees’

Executive Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has announced the inauguration of the State’s Pension Fund Management Committee.

The PFMC, inaugurated on Tuesday, is a “major step” in the Abiodun administration’s commitment to full implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

The Committee consists of the Bureau of State Pensions and the Bureau of Local Government Pensions, the Governor said.

Abiodun said, since taking office, his government has prioritized the welfare of the workers and retirees of Ogun State.

He urged the Committee to carry out its duty with “integrity, diligence, and global best practices”.

Governor Abiodun posted on X: “Yesterday, we inaugurated the Ogun State Pension Fund Management Committee, comprising representatives from the Bureau of State Pensions and the Bureau of Local Government Pensions.

“This marks a major step in our commitment to full implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), in line with the Pension Reform Law and our recently signed Memorandum of Action with organised labour.

“We appreciate the leadership and maturity shown by labour unions in suspending their strike and embracing dialogue. Since assuming office, we have prioritised the welfare of our workers and retirees, knowing that a secure future for them is the foundation of sustainable governance.

“With this committee in place, we are confident that our pension system will become more transparent, accountable, and responsive—setting a standard worthy of emulation.

“We charge the committee to act with integrity, diligence, and global best practices. Together, let us build a pension system that guarantees dignity and peace of mind for every worker in Ogun State.”
