‘Congratulations’ – Ezekwesili rejoices as Court orders Senate to recall Senator Natasha

Obiageli ‘Oby’ Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education, has congratulated Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, after the Court ordered the Senate to recall the Kogi Central Senator.

Ezekwesili said, “congratulations!”, and thanked her for “modeling the strength of will that Citizens in a Democracy must possess to push back on abuse of power”.

In delivering judgment, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, described Senator Natasha’s six-month suspension as excessive.

Justice Nyako ordered the Senate to recall the suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

However, the Court imposed a ₦5 million fine on Senator Natasha earlier in the ruling, for breaching its order, which blocked the parties from making public statements about the subject matter of the suit.

It also ordered the Senator to publish an apology within seven (7) days in two nations dailies.

In her congratulatory message on X, Ezekwesili wrote: “Distinguished. Senator. Natasha. Akpoti- Uduaghan @NatashaAkpoti

“Congratulations!

“Today is a great Day to remind all of us of your unforgettable words:

“This Injustice will not be Sustained.

“Thanks for modeling the strength of will that Citizens in a Democracy must possess to push back on abuse of power by those who occupy public positions.

“Congratulations to your admirably loyal Kogi Central Senatorial Constituency who have been unconscionably and unconstitutionally been denied representation. Now the @NGRSenate should swiftly right the wrong and injustice done them.

“You inspire!”
