‘Chelsea are very physically strong, it will be a tight match’ – PSG boss Enrique ahead of FIFA Club World Cup final

Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG) Spanish manager, Luis Enrique, has admitted, Premier League opponents, Chelsea, are a “very physically strong team”.

The Spaniard made the statement in his pre-Chelsea press conference.

PSG will want to clinch a fourth trophy when they lock horns with Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final on Sunday 13 July, 2025 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey at 20 00 (WAT).

Both sides have shown consistency and a lot of strength from the get-go of the tournament; only difference is that the French side have faced tougher and stronger teams all the way through to the final.

Les Parisiens Brazilian defender, Marquinhos, described the FIFA Club World Cup as a “golden opportunity in a comeptition” that holds every four (4) years.

Pre-Chelsea comments from PSG Camp

According to PSG on X:

Luis Enrique (Head Coach): “Chelsea is a team similar to us. It will be a tight match against a very physically strong team.

“Chelsea is a complete team that had a good season. It won’t be an easy match.

“It’s important to end this historic season in the best possible way. It’s important for us, for the club, and for our fans.”

Marquinhos (Centre-Back): “It’s an honor and a pride to be part of this team.

“We are aware of the importance of this match. It’s a golden opportunity in a competition that happens every four years.”

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea defeated Brazilian side, Fluminense, to reach the final.

It is shocking to see Maresca guide Chelsea all the way to the final of the tournament after suffering a humiliating 3-1 defeat in the hands of Brazilian side, Flamengo, in the preliminary stage.

The encounter had Senegalese forward, Nicolas Jackson, bag a red card following a serious foul which also led to his suspension.

Former Super Eagles of Nigeria and Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, expressed his disgust at the Senegal international, saying, he doesn’t care about Jackson’s “frustration” and warned that new signing, Liam Delap, from Ipswich Town, will probably take the Blues’ front position.

HC: Hard to predict the winner! Maresca hardly make mistakes especially when it’s extremely serious. Enrique just wants a fourth trophy!
