2023 Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has said, a police officer dressed in mufti stole his AI Rayban glasses during the Police protests at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday 21 July, 2025.
Sowore led the protests by retired Police Officers who are demanding for improved retirement benefits.
Sowore said, the Police superiors are “shielding” the officer.
He said: “CAUGHT ON CAMERA: This Nigeria Police Force officer, dressed in mufti, stole my AI Rayban glasses at the Force headquarters during #Policeprotest today. His superiors are shielding him.”
At the Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, “personally” addressed the retired Police Officers, and expressed his concern to their plight.
