Cambodia and Thailand have reaffirmed to China that, they will stand by the ceasefire agreement.
The latest is China’s diplomatic move to speed up the implementation of ceasefire, as well as, create ways that will bring about the restoration of “peace and stability” along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Spox, Lin Jian, posted on X: “China, Cambodia and Thailand held an informal trilateral meeting in Shanghai.
“Cambodia and Thailand reaffirmed to China that they will abide by the ceasefire agreement, and expressed their appreciation for the positive role China has played to date in calming down the situation.
“It is China’s latest diplomatic effort to facilitate the implementation of the ceasefire and create conditions for quickly restoring peace and stability along the Cambodia-Thailand border.”
It took days of wooing and pressure from the United States (US), China and Malaysia — as well as, a threat from President Donald Trump — to force Thailand and Cambodia to come together to work out their two nations’ deadliest border conflict in decades.
