Enugu State has a belief that, “the fastest route to shared prosperity” is by making investments in people, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Executive Governor of Enugu State, said.
Mbah made known, the Southwestern State is adopting “experiential learning” and dumping “the old rote model of education”.
The Governor said, the State’s 260 Smart Green Schools are built as “creativity hubs” making it easier for school children to start fixing “real-life problems”.
Mbaj made the statement as he received the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Nigeria, Ms. Elsie G. Attafuah, at the Government House on Thursday.
He revealed, his “robust conversation” with Attafuah on education, healthcare, digital economy among others.
Governor Mbah posted on X: “I was honoured to receive the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Nigeria, Ms. Elsie G. Attafuah, at the Government House, Enugu.
“We had a robust conversation about our efforts to drive inclusive growth across education, healthcare, the digital economy, energy, and innovation. I was especially inspired by her generous commendation of our vision and the support UNDP is offering in areas that align with our development priorities.
“In Enugu, we believe that investing in people is the fastest route to shared prosperity. We are intentionally transitioning from the old rote model of education to experiential learning. Our 260 Smart Green Schools are designed as creativity hubs, where school children can begin solving real-life problems.”
The Governor assured, the State will begin feeding its “300,000” school children daily’, by September. He further assured, each School will have access to a registered nurse and primary healthcare services.
Attafuah commended Governor Mbah for the unveiling of Enugu Air, as well as, the State’s $30 billion GDP target.
Governor Mbah further posted: “Ms. Attafuah’s recognition of our efforts, from Enugu Air to our $30 billion GDP target, and her proposals for collaboration in areas such as education, healthcare, energy, innovation, and trade are deeply appreciated.
“Thank you, Ms. Attafuah, and the entire UNDP team, for your visit, your partnership, and your faith in the Enugu story.”
