Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has officially received the political structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State.
It was handed to the Governor by Godswill Akpabio, President of the Nigerian Senate.
Eno said, what he received from Akpabio was not an “acquisition”, but, a “merger”, and received it with “love and understanding”.
The Governor urged leaders of the ‘Broom’ Party to work together to build a “stronger, United APC”.
Governor Eno posted on X: “I officially received the political structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State from our Senate President, His Excellency Senator Godswill Akpabio. It was an emotional and symbolic moment at the APC Stakeholders Meeting held at the Government House Banquet Hall, Uyo.
“I made it clear that this is not an acquisition, it is a merger, and it must be approached with love, unity, and understanding. We all must make sacrifices for the greater good of Akwa Ibom. I’ve urged our party leaders, from the wards up, to open their arms and hearts to welcome this move. Let’s build a stronger, united APC together.”
Eno made it clear that, his “mission” for the South-South State, “peace, progress and prosperity” remains unchanged.
Governor Eno further posted: “I’m here to work with everyone, grow the party, and support the vision of our leaders. My mission remains the same: peace, progress, and prosperity for our people under the ARISE Agenda. Let’s move forward together. God bless Akwa Ibom State.”
Governor Eno was formerly under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP); he won the Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election 2023 under the ‘Umbrella’ Party.
His defection to the ruling Party came after Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta State Governor, who was also formerly under PDP, joined the APC.
