Transfer window closing on Tuesday

Transfer window closing on Tuesday

The transfer window will close today, Tuesday 10 June, 2025 temporarily.

Clubs will no longer be able to sign players until the window reopens on Monday 16 June, 2025.

Reason for closure of transfer window

The very short pause of the transfer window is as a result of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 which is scheduled to take place in the United States (US).

An extraordinary period of registration was created to allow the competing sides to register players in advance of the competition, however, so as not to allow them any advantage, all clubs were given the permission to make transfers since Sunday 1 June.

Transfer window will reopen on Monday 16 June and all clubs will be allowed to sign players until it closes, twelve (12) weeks later, on Monday 1 September, 2025.

Clubs who have signed players already

Manchester City have signed Rayan Ait-Nouri, an Algerian full-back; Chelsea have signed Mamadou Sarr, son of Pape Sarr, Liam Delap from Ipswich Town; Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign goalkeeper, Armin Pecsi; Newcastle United have signed Antonio Cordero from Spanish side, Malaga.

Brentford have signed Irish goalkeeper, Caiomhin Kelleher; Chelsea have also signed Dario Essugo; Manchester United, who struggled all through the 2024/25 season, announced on Sunday 1 June that an agreement has been reached with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha, subject to visa and registration.

Cunha is a 26-year old Brazil international.

According to Manchester United official website, when asked about making more signings, Omar Barrada, Manchester United CEO, said: “I can’t talk about specifics, but I can say we have been planning for many months now. We were ready for all the different scenarios and now know what we need to do. We have a very clear idea where we need to invest in the squad to improve.

“So Jason [Wilcox], his team and Ruben [Amorim] have been in talks, as I said, for many months. Now it’s a question of executing that plan and doing it in a way that is prudent but, at the same time, with ambition.”

When asked whether Manchester United can be able to attract top-level talent despite the failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League, Manager Ruben Amorim said: “It is Manchester United. What I feel is that there’s a lot of players that want to play for our club.

“I know that if you look at our club in the moment, it looks like, sometimes, with all the problems, with the staff, with people going, changing coach, the results, it looks a little bit of a problem in the moment but we have a clear idea and that is the easiest part to explain to a player.

“And then it is Manchester United. Everybody wants to play for Manchester United.”

Berrada, Amorim alongside others are working towards adding more players to United squad.

Following the post-season tour, Amorim said, Manchester United might take additions from the Academy, after praising their performances of some youngsters in Asia.

In their post-season first match, the Reds lost to ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia by a lone goal, but, emerged victorious by three (3) goals to one (1) against Hong Kong.
