Premier League side, Wolverhampton Wanderers, have made talented young Spanish attacking midfielder, Fer Lopez, their first signing of the summer.
21-year old Lopez has joined on a permanent contract from Spanish La Liga club, Celta Vigo, where he scaled through into the first-team last season.
The Spaniard, a left-footed attacker, who can be fielded on the right or in a central position, has put pen to paper for a five-year contract that will keep him at Molineux, and now takes the step of Jorgen Strand Larsen in moving from Vigo to Wolverhampton.
Fer Lopez, who only turned twenty-one (21) in May, is a player of the Celta Vigo youth outfit and, having performed beautifully well for Gran Pena and Celta B, was handed his chance after signing a new contract last summer.
The Madrid-born recorded his senior debut last October in a 5-1 Copa Dey Rey triumph over UD San Pedro, while he netted his first goals in the following round against Salamanca CF, as he scored a brace in another resounding win.
With twenty (20) senior Celta Vigo appearances, Lopez comes back to the United Kingdom (UK), where he previously spent time through education in Suffolk before making his way back to his country, Spain.
According to the Club’s official website, Lopez said: “It’s an amazing opportunity for my career to play in the Premier League, and I’m very happy. Vitor told me he thought I was a good fit in the squad and when it’s a club like this, you have little to think about. The team did very good when Vitor came and I think he is top, so I’m very excited to be with him.
“Jorgen told me that to play in the Premier League and with a team like Wolves, it’s amazing, and that the fans were incredible. He told me that I should come, and that with the gaffer and all the teammates, the style of play was going to be very good. We’re going to play good football, attractive football, and I think I can fit in there.
“To finish seventh in La Liga was amazing and in my breakthrough year, I cannot explain with words, because it was everything I had dreamed of. I played at the Bernabeu twice, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid – they were the best atmospheres in Spain and now I want to do the same, but in England.”
