NEMA receives 147 Nigerian returnees from Niger Republic

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) announced, it has received 157 Nigerian returnees from Agadez, Niger Republic.

The returnees landed in Kano State at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) at 12:48 p.m. on June 16, 2025.

The 147 returnees comprised of “143 adult male, 1 male child, 1 adult female and 2 female children.”

The repatriation was harmonized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in partnership with relevant stakeholders involved in migrant support and reintegration, the Agency established to manage disasters in Nigeria said.

“The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Operations Office, facilitated the reception of 147 Nigerian returnees who arrived from Agadez, Niger Republic. The returnees landed at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) at 12:48 p.m. on June 16, 2025.

“The repatriation was coordinated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in collaboration with relevant stakeholders involved in migrant support and reintegration.

“Breakdown of Returnees:

Adult Males: 143

Male Child: 1

Adult Female: 1

Female Children: 2

“On arrival, the returnees were taken to Badala Hotel for profiling and documentation, which took place on June 17, 2025.

“One individual was reported ill and received appropriate medical attention from the Red Cross.”
