Veteran goalkeeper, Scott Carson, will leave Manchester City at the expiration of his contract this summer.
After six (6) years, the goalkeeper makes his exit from Etihad Stadium with the strange record of more Premier League winners’ medals than appearances.
The former Kings of England made this known via social media.
Manchester ter City announced: “After six seasons with the Club, Scott Carson will leave Manchester City when his contract expires this summer.
“We would like to thank Scott for his hard work and dedication and wish him the very best of luck for the future.”
39 year old Carson made the move to Manchester City in 2019 following a loan move from Derby County was made permanent.
He only recorded two (2) appearances for the Cityzens, with one coming in the Uefa Champions League and the other in the Premier League.
Despite Carson’s lack of play time, he has carted a beautiful trophy haul.
During the goalkeeper’s period with the Cityzens, the club has won one (1) Uefa Champions League, four (4) Premier Leagues, two (2) League Cups, a Uefa Super Cup and a Club World Cup.
This means he has a better record than Cristiano Ronaldo in England and Ronaldinho’s in the UCL.
Carson has played a important role in elevating regular stoppers Ederson and Stefan Ortega. He kicked off his career back in 2003 at Leeds United and went ahead to feature for the likes of Liverpool, West Brom, Bursaspor and Wigan.
The goalkeeper also recorded four caps for his country, England, between 2006 and 2011.
Apart from Carson, Belgian midfield maestro, Kevin De Bruyne, is another long-time servant to leave the Etihad this summer.
Kevin de Bruyne has also parted ways with the club upon the expiration of his contract.
After a whopping ten (10) years at Etihad Stadium, De Bruyne announced he will leave the Cityzens via a statement as he expressed his gratitude to the club, teammates, family for the decade-long “ride”.
The 33-year old said, he “cannot thank the city, club, staff, teammates, friends and family enough for this 10-year ride.”
