The Presidency has once again responded to Sule Lamido after the former Governor of Jigawa State claimed, President Bola Tinubu was in support of the annulment of the June 12, 1993 Presidential Election.
This response by the Presidency is coming through Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, on Sunday.
Lamido had claimed on live television that President Tinubu supported the annulment of the June 12, 1993 Election, and his mother, Abibatu Mogaji, gathered market women to support the annulment.
Dare said, the former Jigawa Governor “needs to be cured of his hallucinations on June 12 and all that happened”
The President’s Spox said, in 1993, he was then the Correspondent of The News Magazine operating from Jos, Plateau State, and that he covered everything that happened during the period, including the June 12 annulment, as well as, the proteste that “engulfed” Nigeria.
Dare added, President Tinubu’s role in the June 12 “struggle” was “huge”.
In the first response by the Presidency through Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, it said, Tinubu even “stood firm” against then Military Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
Sunday Dare took to his official X account and responded: “Sule Lamido needs to be cured of his hallucinations on June 12 and all that happened.
“I find his recent revisionist attempt to dimish the central role of President Tinubu in the June 12 Struggle hogwash and coming too late. President Tinubu’s role is secured in history. I know that for a fact.
“It’s recent history. I was then in 1993 the Correspondent of The News Magazine operating from Jos, Plateau State. I covered the June 12 Annulment and the prostests that engulfed the country. The News Magazine, Tempo magazine were both at the center of that struggle to de-annul June 12 but must importantly to chase the military back to the barracks.
“We are sure of the huge role President Bola Tinubu played. Let Lamido tell the world the ‘role’ he played along with several others. @officialABAT “
