Fulham FC: Nigeria star Calvin Bassey emerge Player Of The Season

Super Eagles of Nigeria defender, Calvin Bassey, has been named Fulham’s Player of the Season for 2024/25.

After emerging second in his maiden campaign last year, Bassey has climbed one ahead this time around, comfortably emerging on top of the final round of voting.

Also, another Nigeria star, this time midfider, Alex Iwobi, clinched second in the Fulham Player Of The Season voting outcome.

The Top Five after voting

Calvin Bassey (39.6%)

Alex Iwobi (21.5%)

Antonee Robinson (19.9%)

Bernd Leno (10.9%)

Saša Lukić (8.1%)

An immensely reliable player at the back, Bassey fielded in all but three of our Premier League fixtures as the Cottagers went ahead to clinch a record points haul, with his pace, strength and confidence bringing the ball out of defence a key component in our success.

The Nigerian also contributed at the other side with two vital goals – the winner at home to high-performing Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest, and the opener at Old Trafford in Fulham’s famous Emirates FA Cup win.

According to the Club’s official website, in his grstitude, Calvin Bassey said: “Thank you guys for voting me Player of the Season. I want to thank God – without God I wouldn’t be where I am.

“Big up all my team, guys who are not necessarily at the Club, who have been helping me.

“Obviously, thanks to the coaching staff and the Manager for trusting me and believing in me. Hopefully we can do amazing things next season, so thank you for your support guys.”
