Brazilian multi-sport club, Flamengo, are through to the round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 after clinching a beautiful 3-1 comeback victory over Premier League side, Chelsea, on Friday 20 June, 2025 at the Lincoln Financial Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Neto placed Enzo Maresca’s Blues ahead; Flamengo levelled through Pinto, then former Manchester City player, Danilo, added the second and Yan sealed the win for the Brazilian side in the 83rd minute to strike out any hope of a comeback for Chelsea.
Senegalese forward, Nicolas Jackson, added more pain by dousing the morale of the Blues after being shown a straight red card just after four (4) minutes he came on as substitute.
Following the stunning win over the Uefa Europa Conference League 2024/25 Champions, Flamengo wrote on its official X account: “To all of our new fans around the world, welcome to the Nação! We hope you enjoyed today’s game and stick around for the rest of the season.”
HC: Is this an upset? Chelsea are not consistent. Is Botafogo’s win over PSG an upset?
