Eno Dumps PDP Joins APC: Akwa Ibom Governor tells why he joined the ‘Broom’ fold

It is no longer news that the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Governor has come out to tell why he dumped the ‘Umbrella’ Party.

In his announcement of his “formal movement” from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Eno said, his decision was propelled by “enlightened state interest”.

He continued, there is the “need to align Akwa Ibom State with the Federal Government” in order to bring “more development and opportunities for our people”.

Eno’s reason for the decision to join the ‘Broom’ Party sounds like that of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who was formerly under the PDP before defecting to the APC.

Governor Oborevwori told the people of the South-South State that, his decision to join the APC fold was “for the best interest of the people of Delta State”.

Oborevwori moved with his Deputy; immediate former Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa; alongside all PDP members of the State.

Eno has always been of the belief that, “political parties are vehicles to get elected”, saying, “governance must be about unity, inclusivity, and shared values”.

Governor Eno said: “I announced my formal movement from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). My decision is driven by enlightened state interest and the need to align Akwa Ibom State with the Federal Government to attract more development and opportunities for our people. I have always believed that political parties are vehicles to get elected, but governance must be about unity, inclusivity, and shared values.”

Eno promised, he will not deviate from the values that have guided him throughout his public service as he steps into this new chapter with the ‘Broom’ Party.

He listed the values, “transparency, bipartisanship, and an unwavering focus”, assuring, it will be for the “collective good of Akwa Ibom”.

The Governor further assured his “dear Akwaibomites” that, he will not cease to “work tirelessly for our state’s growth, peace, and prosperity”.

He urged the people of the ‘Land of Promise’ to move forward with him, stay “united in purpose”, and allow themselves be “driven by hope”.

Governor Eno said: “As I step into this new chapter, I remain committed to the values that have guided me throughout my public service: transparency, bipartisanship, and an unwavering focus on the collective good of Akwa Ibom.

“I assure you, my dear Akwaibomites, that I will continue to work tirelessly for our state’s growth, peace, and prosperity.

“Let us move forward together, united in purpose, driven by hope, and dedicated to building a stronger, more inclusive Akwa Ibom!”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially welcomed Governor Umo Eno, and declared Akwa Ibom State an APC State.
