Alia assured the people of Benue State, he will do everything within his power to ensure the State is not turned into a “killing field”, saying, “these killings are unacceptable”.
In his Democracy Day 2025 message, posted on his official X account, Governor Alia said: “I was deeply moved and humbled by the spontaneous show of love and solidarity demonstrated by the good people of Benue State.
“Even though I had insisted on a low-key Democracy Day celebration, in line with our values of modesty and a focus on service, you chose to celebrate, not just Democracy, but the progress we are building together.
“Your voluntary solidarity walk across town, in honour of this administration and in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, speaks volumes. It sends a loud and clear message: when leadership is sincere, the people respond with trust, love, and overwhelming support.
“In just two years, we have walked through challenges together, and we have also celebrated meaningful milestones. From reviving key infrastructure to restoring transparency in governance, and from delivering quality education and healthcare to implementing vital security reforms; your unwavering support has made all of this possible, despite the odds.
“This outpouring of love has only strengthened my resolve to serve you with even greater dedication, humility, and the fear of God.
“Thank you for believing in this vision. Thank you for believing in us.”
