‘Death happens to everyone – those who defend Tinubu, Peter Obi, will die one day’ – Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri said, “death is an appointment we will all keep”, and added, “death happens to everyone”.

His statement is coming as he sent his condolence to the family of Jesutega Onokpasa, who passed on Monday.

Sending his thoughts following the passing of the APC Chieftain, Omokri prayed: “may God bless the family of the departed Jesutega Onokpasa and give them fortitude to bear their loss.”

Reno said, Onokpasa was a huge supporter of President Bola Tinubu does not mean his passing should be regarded “as though it was a divine punishment.”

He added, whether you are a defender of President Tinubu or 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, you will die one day.

Omokri said, the death of a person should not be seen as a “cause for celebration”; he confessed, the only time he ever celebrated the death of a person was on June 8, 1998 when General Sani Abacha died.

Reno said, his father felt “so displeased” with him for celebration the death of a person, and told him, doing it once was “weakness”, but, doing it again was “wickedness”.

Reno Omorki wrote on his official X account: “Death happens to everyone. It is an appointment we will all keep. I will die one day. Those who defend President Tinubu will also die one day. Those who defend Peter Obi and other Presidential candidates or hopefuls will likewise die someday. Thus, we should not feel any moral superiority because a Tinubu supporter died, as though his death was a divine punishment.

“It betrays the low level of a culture that is low like a vulture when we see the death of another person as a cause for celebration.

“The only time I ever did that was on June 8, 1998, when I joined the spontaneous celebration in parts of Nigeria over the death of General Sani Abacha. My father was so displeased with me. He told me that doing it once was a weakness. But if I do it again, it will no longer be a weakness but a wickedness.

“May God bless the family of the departed Jesutega Onokpasa and give them fortitude to bear their loss, and may the Almighty grant us wisdom so that our weaknesses do not become wickednesses.”
