Air India has confirmed, virtually everyone on board an Air India flight bound for Gatwick Airport in London, England, that crashed shortly after taking off in western India have died.
There were 242 passengers and crew on board the aircraft, encompassing 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, seven (7) Portuguese nationals and one (1) Canadian.
The plane which took off crashed some minutes later and killed at least eight (8) other local people where the plane came down in Ahmedabad, as disclosed by a top health official.
The only survivor of the crash, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national, was taken to hospital and treated for injuries.
Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who visited the city of Ahmedabad following the “tragic” incident met with the survivor at the hospital.

The Joshi family: Dr Prateek Joshi, his wife and three children died in the crash, the Hindu Temple Derby revealed. A consultant radiologist from Derby, his wife and three children have been listed among the victims.
