United States: ‘President Trump’s proposal of reopening Alcatraz Prison is not a serious one’ – Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi, 52nd Speaker of the House, has expressed her disgust after President Donald Trump made a “proposal” for the reopening of Alcatraz Prison.

Trump has directed the Bureau of Prisons, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Department of Justice, to reopen the notorious Alcatraz Prison.

The US Leader said, Alcatraz will “house America’s most ruthless and violent offenders.”

Pelosi’s statement is coming as a comment to a tweet by Kaitlan Collins (@Kaitlancollins), Chief White House Correspondent and CNN Anchor.

Kaitlan Collins tweeted: “Trump says he wants to reopen Alcatraz as a functioning prison for the most violent offenders. As the Bureau of Prisons notes on its website, it was closed in the 1960s because it was three times more expensive to operate than other prisons.”

Nancy Pelosi quoted Kaitlan Collins’ tweet and commented: “Alcatraz closed as a federal penitentiary more than sixty years ago. It is now a very popular national park and major tourist attraction. The President’s proposal is not a serious one.”
