Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Boris Johnson, said, Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the UK, “made a colossal goof on day one in office”, adding, “it’s time to bring back Rwanda”.
Johnson said, “we’re all paying the price for Starmer’s colossal goof.”
The former UK PM’s statement is coming one year after Starmer’s Labour government scrapped the Rwanda Scheme, some days after entering office.
According to rescue.org:
In April 2022 the UK and Rwanda signed an agreement for the UK to deport people seeking asylum in Britain to Rwanda, known as the ‘Migration and Economic Development Partnership’, or ‘Rwanda Plan’.
Under the Rwanda scheme, asylum seekers arriving in the UK would be prohibited from asking for protection here, and would instead be sent to Rwanda, where they would be processed under Rwanda’s legal system and would not be able to return to the UK.
Boris Johnson said: “On Day One in office Starmer made a colossal goof for which we’re all paying the price. It’s time to bring back Rwanda.”
